A look at what's coming up this December at the PRC.

Weather you're ready for it or not, the holidays are here! Christmas is a mere 25 days away, Hanukkah begins in 12, and Kwanzaa begins in 26! When you're not busy running around making travel plans and doing some last-minute shopping, stop by the Nonnie Hood Parent Resource Center for some fun! Our open hours remain the same, but we close later in the month for our yearly deep clean.

This month, our focus is on the holidays and giving families a safe, warm place to play with the kids while the rest of the world hustles and bustles. All throughout the month, families are invited to shop at "Santa's Workbench" right here at the PRC! All items in the store are priced under a dollar and proceeds go towards funding our Holiday Party later in the month!

Here's a look at what we have coming up, and be sure to check out the calendar for more details

Every Tuesday stop by after story hour at the Southeast Steuben County Library for some related crafts and activities!

Our always popular Love Languages class begins on Wednesday, December 6! This is a special "For Children" variation of the program focused on understanding the link between successful learning and love languages to build a foundation of unconditional love for your child!

The Science & Discovery Center will be here on Wednesday, December 6 and Wednesday, December 20 to teach us about Magnets and Patterns. These hands-on workshops are great for ages three and up, but all children are welcome to drop in and attend.

Me Times this month will be on Thursday, December 7 and Thursday, December 21. Drop-off your children with Amanda and Josh for two hours of fun, crafts and learning through play!

Due to the shortened month, we'll only be having one Kids Night In on Friday, December 15. Two hours of childcare with Matt and Julie Waltz-Stalker! Lots of fun, including the bounce house!

On Wednesday, December 20, our annual Holiday Party will kick off for anyone interested in attending! Crafts and treats will be provided, but the PRC graciously accepts peanut-free snacks and beverages for the event.

In addition to the Holiday Party, Linda from Pro Action will be here for her annual Book on Every Bed event. Come wrap a free book and start a new tradition with your young readers.

Please note that the center will be closed from Friday, December 22 through Saturday, January 2 for our winter deep clean.

A look at what's coming up this November at the PRC.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and with it -- hopefully -- some colder weather. If you're a family who has never played at the Nonnie Hood Parent Resource Center, now is the perfect time to stop by for open play, or to check out some of the special events we have going on every week. Or, if you know a family that could use a warm, friendly place to play when the leaves turn and the thermometer drops below 40, let them know their first visit for open play is free!

This month, our focus is on giving families one last chance to recharge their battieries before the Holidays really get going. Whether it's Family Yoga, a messy art class, cooking together, or drop-off childcare, there is plenty for stir crazy families looking to get out and do something fun without freezing their noses off!

Here's a look at what we have coming up, and be sure to check the calendar for more details

Every Tuesday stop by after story hour at the Southeast Stueben County Library for some related crafts and activities!

On Thursday, November 2, Nithya will be back for another cooking lesson. This time she'll be showing us a dish called 'dabeli' -- a type of hearty, vegetarian sloppy joe!

Kids Night Ins this month are Friday, November 3 and Friday, November 17. If you've already been to one, you know the drill -- three hours of fun, crafts, a bounce house, pizza, and snacks with our incredible staff! If you're a first-timer looking for a Friday night to yourself, give us a call with questions or to sign up today!

Micro Angelos with Julie Waltz-Stalker.

Micro Angelos with Julie Waltz-Stalker.

Miss Julie will be back for another Micro Angelos on Wednesday, November 8. She'll be showing us how to make paper lanterns, complete with battery-operated faux candles and personal designs!

The Science & Discovery Center will be here for two more Wednesdays this month, November 1 and November 15. The classes will be on counting and animals in water, respectively. While these are geared for ages two and up, anyone is allowed to join the sensory learning fun.

If you're looking for some downtime during the day, our Me Time this month will be on Thursday, November 9. Similar to Kids Night In, Me Time allows for parents to drop their children off with our staff for crafts, fun, and activities. Me Time is perfect for parents with younger children not yet in school who need some time to run errands, or just have some well-deserved alone time!

Family Yoga with Elizabeth Moses.

Family Yoga with Elizabeth Moses.

Just in time for that pre-Thanksgiving stress, Elizabeth Moses will be here for another Family Yoga class on Friday, November 17. These are always well attended and we find that kids of all ages are loving them every time they come!

And finally, on the last day of the month, Thursday, November 30, Music Therapist Jennifer Carlson will join us for another wonderful session of Music Development. These spots fill up incredibly fast, so if you want to get one you should call us at 607-936-3837 ASAP.

Please also note that the PRC will be CLOSED from Wednesday, November 22 through Friday, November 24 so the staff can enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with their families. Additionally, the PRC will be CLOSED on Saturday, November 11 in observance of Veteran's Day.
